Lid Sterilisation Twist Off 48

Lid Sterilisation Twist Off 48 is a 48 mm diameter twist-off closure compatible with all standard glass jars using the same Twist Off thread — including cylindrical, hexagonal, square and deep-body formats. It is the EU food-production standard for preserves, sauces and pickles.

Twist Off sterilisation lids are rated for water-bath pasteurisation at 100 °C and retort sterilisation up to 121 °C with controlled pressure ramps. The inner PVC-free or plastisol sealing compound creates a hermetic vacuum on cooling that is visible as the concave lid button.

We do not carry any lids with buttons in our catalog. However, you can know if the vacuum has been created properly, since the center of the lid sinks in slightly, making it a bit concave. You can check this by placing a ruler on top of the lid: when the lid is new, it lies flush against the ruler, but once the vacuum has been created, there is a slight gap.
